37th National ConventionHundreds of training practitioners – whether corporate, technical, or from the academe – from all over the Philippines are expected to be in Davao City on May 17-19, 2011 for the 37th National Convention of the Philippine Society for Training and Development (PSTD).

This year’s convention theme “UPloading Information, UPgrading Infrastructure, UPholding Strategic Partnerships in Training,” or simply “UP! UP! UP! PSTD”, not only concretizes the vision of the Society, for the Philippines to become the training hub of Asia, but also serves as a call or challenge to all its members to continually grow in their practice and profession. This event is expected to be the biggest annual gathering of workplace learning and performance (WLP) practitioners in the country.

Moreover, this year’s event being in Davao not only showcases the city’s major tourist destinations, but also as great venue for conventions and seminars. Ms. Elvie Tarrobal, PSTD National Vice President and this year’s Convention Chair, a native of Davao herself, is proud and excited as this is the first time that PSTD is holding its annual convention outside Luzon.

In fact, according to Mr. Adrian Robles, PSTD Public Relations Officer, there are indeed many firsts in this event. Aside from being the first time that three current presidents of the society will be meeting and gracing the event, namely; Mr. Jesse Rebustillo (PSTD National), Ms. Irene Floro (Northern Mindanao Chapter) and Ms. Nelia Tumarao (Davao Chapter), the winners of the first PSTD Gawad Maestro Awards will also be announced. This award is the society’s gesture to recognize outstanding leaders, movers, and influencers in the field of WLP. The election of the next members of the board of trustees of PSTD will also be held during the event.37th National Convention Teaser

Other highlight of the occasion is the convention dinner to be hosted by the Department of Tourism and another one by the Mayor of Davao City herself, Ms. Inday Duterte, who shall also grace the convention as a speaker.
