PSTD Spearheads Celebration of National Training and Development Week

2011
05.18

Did you know that every 4th week of May is officially the Manpower Training and Development Week in our country? This was declared by the late President Ferdinand Marcos through Proclamation No. 1142 (05-10-1973).

Did you also know that the Philippine Society for Training and Development (PSTD) is the organization authorized, through the same proclamation, to spearhead and coordinate with the appropriate agencies in the observance of the Training and Development Week?

Did you know that the very first Annual Convention of the Philippine Society for Training and Development was held on May 24-26, 1973?

Did you know that for the past 36 years, PSTD Convention has always been held in Luzon?

In observance of the above Presidential Proclamation and in support of the society’s efforts to achieve its vision of making the Philippines as the Training Hub of Asia, this year’s National Convention of PSTD will be held at Apo View Hotel in Davao City on May 17-19, 2011 with the theme “UP! UP! UP! In Training: UPloading Information, UPgrading Infrastructure, UPholding Strategic Partnerships in Training.” Hundreds of training executives and workplace learning and performance practitioners from different parts of the country are expected to participate in this event. The organizers of this year’s convention (members of the Board of Trustees) are hoping that through this event, the delegates, who are mostly the head or in-charged of training in their respective companies, will be encouraged or driven to stage their own programs and initiatives in celebrating the Training &  Development week in their companies.
