Eugene S. Acevedo

President and CEO, RCBC

Mr. Acevedo is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation or RCBC, one of the leading banks in the Philippines. Previous to this, he held senior leadership positions in five banks. He was President and CEO of Philippine National Bank where he led the bank’s rebranding and re-launch of key businesses, resulting into a three-fold rise in the bank’s share price. He joined Citibank as an Executive Trainee in 1987. He was promoted to Managing Director in 2005 and was Country Treasurer for the Philippines and, later, Hong Kong. In his last post with Citibank, he led the Hong Kong/Taiwan/Macau Global Markets Cluster, and was Treasurer of Citicorp International Ltd.

Before becoming a banker, Mr. Acevedo was a Physics Lecturer at the University of the Philippines – National Institute of Physics. He graduated BS Physics, magna cum laude, from the University of San Carlos where he was a DOST scholar. He took his Masters in Business Management at Asian Institute of Management where he was the Javier Nepomuceno Scholar, and had the highest GPA in his class. He completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School. Mr. Acevedo is keenly interested in banking innovation and transformation. He is a Digital Marketing Professional certified by The Wharton School. He also took the Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence Programs of MIT, the Oxford Fintech Programme, and the Berkeley Digital Transformation Course.

Ruel T. Maranan

President, Ayala Foundation

Ruel T. Maranan is the president of Ayala Foundation Inc., the corporate social responsibility arm of Ayala Corporation, where he is concurrently a managing director. He is also a member of the board of directors of Asticom Technology Inc., the board of representatives of CIFAL Philippines, the board of People’s Management of the Philippines Foundation, and the board of advisers of Natasha Goulbourn Foundation. Mr. Maranan has been part of the Ayala group for over 20 years—first with Globe Telecom, where he served as head for strategic staffing and employee relations; and then at Manila Water Company, where he was group director for corporate human resources. His strategic human resources leadership was instrumental for Globe Telecom and Manila Water Company to be awarded the Employer of the Year recognitions from the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP). Mr. Maranan played the key role for the award from Ministry of Manpower of Singapore for Manila Water Company to be the First Filipino company to win the Asian Human Capital Award. He received the CEO EXCEL Award from the International Association of Business Communicators in 2011. In 2019, Mr. Maranan was conferred the rank of Diplomate in People Management by the Philippine Society of Fellows, which is affiliated with the PMAP. Mr. Maranan earned his bachelor’s degree in social sciences at the Ateneo de Manila University, and his bachelor of laws degree from the University of Santo Tomas. He attended the Harvard Leadership Management Certificate Program.

Carsten Tripler

Carsten Tripler has been a consultant in the field of human resources and corporate change since 1989. He has been working in a wide variety of settings in Europe, Asia, North America and the Middle East. In 1995, he founded IPM Consulting-SyNet Group and created a network of consultants, specialized in management and leadership development and cultural change. As a cofounder of The Business@Heart Project his mission is to re-humanize the business. His work with large global corporations is informed by Darwin’s less well-known principle related to social systems: Survival of the kindest.

Delf Ornelas

Delf Ornelas has been a Trainer, Coach, and Leadership & Development Consultant since 1994. He joined the IPM APAC Consulting – SyNet Group in 2002. Mr. Ornelas began his career in executive education and leadership development in the late 1980’s following his years of professional experience in the healthcare industry, during this time, he held senior management positions. Since then, Delf has been involved in a wide variety of global Learning & Development programs primarily in the EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions. His client-base covers a broad spectrum of industries and businesses including aviation, financial services & banking, healthcare, FMCG, energy, information technology and media. Delf works with both emerging and senior leaders in global organizations. He is currently the Director in Asia-Pacific with IPM Consulting based in Byron, Australia, a founding organization of the SyNet Global Group of executive education consultancies. At IPM SyNet Group, he is responsible for the advancement and delivery of learning offerings for clients in business strategy and business modeling, innovation and awareness-based leadership (ABL). His current assignments also include contributing to the curriculum for a New Generation Leadership Technology at IPM SyNet Group Executive Education & Leadership Academy.
