PSTD MENTORING PROGRAM

 

Here are some questions to consider before entering the PSTD Mentoring Program as a mentee:

  • Do I have time? It takes time to establish and maintain a relationship with your mentor. When someone gives you their time to help you develop and grow, you should reciprocate by giving your own and following through on the work you’ll need to do to prepare for the meetings.
  • Do I have an interest? Are you honestly interested in learning more about the field of training and development? A mentor prefers to work with a mentee who is eager to learn and grow.
  • Do I seek honest, constructive feedback? Accepting advice, coaching, and honest feedback are all part of learning from a mentor. Are you interested in this type of relationship? Consider how you accept feedback and whether this type of relationship is right for you. While the program will provide some instruction on giving and receiving feedback, you should come in with a certain level of acceptance of the mentoring/feedback model.

Program Requirements

  • The official length of the program is nine months.
  • If the mentor and mentee choose to continue the program beyond that, that is certainly encouraged.
  • During the nine months, you are asked to meet at least once a month for one hour; however, you can meet more often if you so choose.
  • Meetings can be in person, virtual, over the phone, via e-mail exchanges, or any combination of the four modes.

    10. Mentors are FREE which makes them priceless in more ways than one.
